What is in the Front Desk group
The group holds four entries, and they stand or fall together: switching the care area off removes all four from the sidebar at once.
Patients also appears under Records as Patient Records. Both entries open the same list and both highlight at once — that is expected, not a fault.
Reading the board
Three tiles run across the top: Waiting now, Long waits and Seen today. Each shows an em dash while it loads rather than a zero, so a figure on screen is always a real count. Below the tiles, four buttons cover the whole of reception — Check in, Book appointment, New patient and New contact. Each opens a sheet over the board, so you never lose the queue you were looking at. Registering someone with New patient flows straight into checking them in, which is the actual walk-in motion. The queue itself is filtered by three tabs — Waiting, Checked out and All, each carrying its own count — and searched by reason, room or staff member with Search reason, room or staff…. The columns are:
Select any row to reopen that visit. Each row also carries View and, until the person leaves, Check out. Checking someone out takes effect immediately with no confirmation — it is reversible by checking them back in, and a confirmation on every one would slow a busy desk to a crawl.
When nothing is queued the board reads Nobody waiting.
The long-wait threshold
A visit is flagged as a long wait after a number of minutes your clinic sets, and the board prints the current figure under the table. Change it in Settings → Facility under Front desk waiting. The tile, the badge and the row colour all follow the same number, so there is only ever one definition of “too long” in the building.Where to go next
