What you’re looking at
The heading reads Services Dashboard — “Manage your clinic’s services, prices, and categories”. A date-range picker and Refresh sit beside it, alongside one context-sensitive button: it reads New Category while the Categories tab is open and New Service everywhere else. Three tabs:
The Services table shows Service Name, Code, Type, Category, Price and Status. Filter services… narrows by name and Filter by type by kind. Selecting a code copies it — “Service code copied to clipboard” — and codes are generated for you: “Service codes are auto-generated based on clinic name and category”.
Empty state. A new hospital sees No services found with “Get started by adding your first service.” and an Add Service button. Filtered to nothing it reads “No services match your current filters.” instead, which is a different problem.
Add a service
1
Open the sheet
Select New Service. The New service sheet opens — “Add a new service to your clinic’s catalogue.”
2
Name it and price it
Service Name* is what appears on the invoice and on your booking page, so write it the way a patient would recognise it, not as an internal code. Price* is in your hospital’s currency.
3
Choose the service type
Service Type* — “The category this service falls under.” The picker is grouped, and a hospital uses most of it: General, Medical Services, Diagnostic Services, Therapy Services, Alternative Medicine, Mental Health and Wellness Services. It is what reporting uses to tell a consultation apart from a radiology study.
4
Add a category and a billing code
Service Category is your own grouping. Procedure Code — “Optional CPT or HCPCS code for billing & reporting.” — carries through onto invoice lines and insurance claims, so fill it in for anything you bill to a payer.
5
Describe it and save
Description — “Detailed description of what the service includes.” — is the text a patient reads when booking. Leave Active on (“Toggle whether this service is currently available.”) and save.
Add a category
Select New Category, enter a Category Name*, an optional Description, and leave Active on. Categories exist so that a list of two hundred hospital services stays navigable. Group by what the patient came in for — “Antenatal”, “Occupational health”, “Day surgery” — rather than by which department performs it, because a patient reading a bill recognises the first and not the second. Each category card’s Actions menu offers Copy ID, Edit Category and Delete Category, which asks Confirm Delete? before it acts.Retiring a service
Switch Active off rather than deleting. An inactive service stops being offered for booking and disappears from the invoice picker, but every invoice that already used it keeps its line, its price and its history. Deleting a service that has been billed is how a revenue report ends up with a hole in it.Who can do this
Role decides whether Services opens; an owner sets that per role under Settings → Role Navigation. Most hospitals restrict it to management and the billing office, because a price list edited by everyone stops being a price list. Once Services opens, nothing narrows further:
Your hospital’s staff sheet does carry a Billing section of per-person toggles — Create billing documents, Add client payments, Add insurance payments, Edit service fees, View Payment Reports, View financial dashboard, Refund payments — and they are recorded against each person. No billing screen reads them, so they change nothing today. Restrict billing at the Role Navigation layer instead. That includes Edit service fees: repricing is not separated from creating today, so the way to stop a price list being edited by everyone is to keep Billing out of most roles’ navigation.
Enforcement is opt-in per person — a colleague never saved in the permissions sheet is unrestricted, and the sheet warns “Saving starts enforcing”. A denied action is recorded; an allowed one is not, and hiding Services from a role is a convenience rather than a security boundary.
Check it worked
- The service appears under the Services tab with its price in your hospital’s currency and a green Active dot.
- “Search services to add…” on a new invoice finds it.
- Total Services and Active Services on Overview have both gone up by one.
- If you publish it, it appears on your booking page — see Booking settings.
Common issues
The price shows in the wrong currency
The price shows in the wrong currency
Currency is set once for the whole hospital under Settings → Billing, not per service, and only an owner can change it. See Billing settings.
I cannot change a price

Edit service fees is granted separately from creating services. Ask an owner or manager — see Permissions.
The service does not appear on my booking page

Check it is Active, then check it is offered on the booking page itself — a service can exist in the catalogue without being published for online booking.

Free Clinic Mode is on under Settings → Billing — “Enable this if your clinic provides free services. All charges will be disabled.” Your hospital carries a Free Clinic badge while it is.
FAQ
Where does the Code column come from?
Where does the Code column come from?
It is generated from your hospital’s name and the service’s category, so every service has a stable internal reference without anyone inventing one.
Is Service Type the same as Service Category?
Is Service Type the same as Service Category?
No. Service Type is a fixed list the product reports on; Service Category is your own grouping, which you create and name. A service has both.
Do consultation rates live here?
Do consultation rates live here?
Department consultation rates are set under Settings → Departments and appear separately on the payment form. See Departments.
Can I set a member price?
Can I set a member price?
Not on the service. Member pricing comes from the plan a patient is on and applies automatically when you add a service to their invoice — see Memberships.
Can I bulk-import a price list?
Can I bulk-import a price list?
Not from this screen. Services are added one at a time, which is slow but keeps the type and category decisions deliberate.
