The Antenatal Register is the closed half of the module. Once a pregnancy record is closed it leaves Today’s Clinic and appears here, with the outcome that was recorded against it. It is a list of who ended and how — not a coverage report. For rates, see Antenatal Coverage, which counts every pregnancy booked, open and closed alike.

What you’re looking at

The heading reads Antenatal Register, and under it: Pregnancies closed with their outcome. Records entered in error are not listed. Below it is one table, most recently closed first, showing the two hundred most recent. Until a pregnancy has been closed, the register reads No closed pregnancy records yet — “A pregnancy appears here once it is closed with its outcome.” A new hospital sees that, and so does one whose antenatal patients are all still pregnant. Records are closed from the ⋯ menu on a row in Today’s Clinic — see Open, re-date and close a pregnancy record.
A record marked as entered in error never appears here. That statement means the record was never true, so it is kept out of a register somebody reports from — but it is not deleted, and it stays on file as a correction. See Audit log.
This register lists pregnancy records, and retracting a delivery or a birth does not change it. A pregnancy closed with the outcome Live birth keeps that row and that outcome even after the delivery record behind it is marked entered in error — what moves are the figures on Antenatal Coverage. Closing a pregnancy record cannot be undone, so a wrong outcome here stays as it is. See Retract a delivery or birth record.
Select a patient’s name to open her antenatal card — the whole pregnancy record, and the PMTCT panel at the foot of it. This is the route to a woman whose pregnancy ended more than three months ago, after she has left the postnatal worklist, and it is how a nine-month or eighteen-month infant test is recorded. The outcome shown here is the one chosen when the record was closed. The closing sheet’s wording is a little fuller — Ectopic pregnancy, Transferred to another facility — and the register abbreviates it to Ectopic and Transferred. Unknown appears here as Not recorded.

Find somebody on this list

A search box and filter buttons sit above the register. They narrow what is drawn; they never change what is recorded.
  • Search matches on name and patient number, in any order — typing bello 0042 finds Amina Bello with number MAT-0042. Case does not matter, and part of a word is enough.
  • Outcome narrows to any outcome the register records, including No outcome recorded — the row somebody auditing the register most needs to find.
  • Closed as narrows to Delivered or Ended.
  • Risk narrows to pregnancies that had a risk factor recorded.
  • Clear filter empties one; Clear all appears once anything is narrowing the list, with a count of how many things are.
A list that a search has emptied says so, and tells you how many records it is drawn from. It never reads as an empty register — that is a different statement, and you would have no way to tell the two apart.

  • A pregnancy you closed is on the top row, dated today under Closed.
  • It has gone from Today’s Clinic.
  • Its Outcome badge says what you recorded.

Common issues

The register lists pregnancy records that have been closed, not women who have delivered. A record stays on Today’s Clinic, counting weeks, until somebody selects Close record on it — which is the usual reason a delivered woman is still on the worklist.
Either it is still open, so it is on Today’s Clinic, or it was marked as entered in error, which is deliberately never listed here.
No outcome was recorded when the record was closed. The dash is honest — nothing is guessed from the dates.
The register shows the two hundred most recently closed records.
