A legacy plan is one you can no longer buy — either because the plan itself has been retired, or because your plan is still sold but at a price ClinikEHR no longer offers to new customers. If your workspace is on one, this page explains what you keep, and what changes the moment you leave it.

Starter is retired

Clinic & Hospital no longer sells a Starter plan. New workspaces choose between Free, Essential and Team; Starter no longer appears as an option on the plan page. See Plans and what they include for the current ladder.
This is Clinic & Hospital only. The Pharmacy and Diagnostics editions have their own, unrelated Starter and Starter Lab plans, and those are unaffected — they are still on sale.
A workspace that bought Starter before it was retired keeps it. Nothing changes on its own:
  • Your price stays your price. You continue to be billed exactly what your subscription already charges, monthly or yearly, for as long as you keep paying it.
  • Your seat cap stays Starter’s own cap — 2 staff seats, not Essential’s or Team’s. See Staff seats for how seats are counted and which roles are free.
  • Your feature set stays what Starter always included — the plan comparison you signed up under, not a moving target. A change made later to what Essential or Team include does not retroactively apply to Starter.
  • Your per-use billing-credit rates stay Starter’s own rates — see the insurance and billing credits table in Plans and what they include.

Once you leave Starter, you cannot go back

Cancelling, downgrading or upgrading away from Starter is a one-way door. Once a workspace has left Starter — for any reason, including a lapsed or cancelled subscription — it cannot resubscribe to Starter. The only plans on offer from then on are Free, Essential, Team and Enterprise.
This is why the plan page marks a Starter workspace’s own card Legacy plan rather than letting you reselect it after moving away — Starter is not held open as a fallback. If you are considering a change and want to keep Starter’s terms, the only way to keep them is to keep the subscription active.

Moving to a current plan

Selecting any other plan from a Starter workspace works exactly like an ordinary plan change — upgrading is immediate and prorated, downgrading (to Free) takes effect at the end of your current billing period. The moment the change applies, you are on that plan’s current price and terms, not a legacy one:
  • Moving to Essential or Team bills you their current price, with their current included-seats-then-overage model — see Staff seats.
  • Moving to Free drops you to Free’s limits and feature set — see What Free includes.

Older Essential or Team pricing

Separately from Starter, a workspace that subscribed to Essential or Team before a price change can stay on the price it originally signed up for, even though the plan itself is still sold. Its card shows its own current charge, which may be lower than the price quoted on the plan page today. The same one-way rule applies: changing plan moves you onto the current price for whatever you select, including reselecting the same plan name at a different billing interval. There is no way to move an older price onto a new billing period or a different plan.

Your workspace’s card is the source of truth for what you actually pay and what cap you are on — this page describes the policy, not your specific numbers. If your card’s price or seat cap does not match what you expect, contact support rather than assuming a mistake.

FAQ

Yes, up to Starter’s own cap, at Starter’s own extra-seat rate. Past that cap, adding another seat needs a plan change, and a plan change is what ends Starter — see the warning above.
No. A plan’s features and its price are the same package — Starter’s terms only apply to Starter. Moving to Essential gets Essential’s features at Essential’s current price.
A lapsed or Past Due subscription is treated as Free while it is unpaid, but reactivating it before it is formally cancelled restores Starter and its terms. See Change your plan for reactivating versus starting over.
It is badged Legacy plan rather than offered as a selectable option, because Starter cannot be bought again once left. Essential and Team remain ordinary, selectable cards.
