# Settings
> The map of every settings tab in a hospital workspace — how to get in, who can, and the five tabs Enterprise adds that no other plan has.

Settings is where the shape of the hospital is decided — which units exist, who may open what, how money is taken, and what patients see. Each tab has its own page in this section. This one is the map.
## Getting in, and who can
**Settings** sits in the footer of the main sidebar, below the modules. Selecting it opens the settings area with its own left rail titled **Clinic Settings**. On a phone or a narrow window that rail collapses into a dropdown at the top; the tabs and their order are identical.
You need to be an **owner**, a **manager** or an **accountant**. Anyone else gets: "You don't have permission to access the settings module. Please contact your clinic administrator."
Getting in is not the whole story. Some controls stay **owner-only** even for a manager — **Currency**, **Tax Rate** and **Free Clinic Mode** among them, plus everything on **General Settings** and the inventory **Danger Zone**. Where a card is read-only for you it says so at the bottom: "Only the clinic owner or a manager can change these."
## If a tab you were sent is not there
Settings deep links carry the tab in the address, like `?tab=facility`. If your workspace does not have that tab, the page opens on **General Settings** instead of showing an error. So a link that "does nothing" has almost always landed on General, and the tab genuinely does not exist for this hospital — check the plan, the edition and the care area before you go looking for a bug.
## The five sections
The rail is banded into five sections, and the band headings are the same words on every screen.

One quirk worth knowing once: the first band reads **PRACTICE** and the rail is titled **Clinic Settings** even for a 300-bed hospital. Those words follow the edition, not the plan. Nothing behind them is scaled down.
## What Enterprise has that Solo and Team do not
This is the part worth reading before you go hunting. An Enterprise hospital gets **five tabs no other plan has**, four of them in a rail group called **Departments settings**.

**Theatre needs one more thing.** It appears only once the **Surgical theatre** care area is on, and that area ships **off**. If four of the five are showing and Theatre is not, that is why — turn the area on in [Facility](/hospital/settings/facility) first. **Ward Management** likewise needs **In-patient care**, and **Inventory** needs the **Inventory** area.
### And one tab Enterprise loses
**Insurance Settings** is **Solo and Team only**. The two plans run different insurance systems: a hospital's payers, coverage, pre-authorisations and claims live in their own module rather than behind a settings tab. Nothing is missing — it moved. See [Insurance](/hospital/insurance/overview).
Two other tabs never appear here either, and neither is a fault: **Loyalty** belongs to the Pharmacy edition, and **Lab Workflow** to the Diagnostics edition.
## PRACTICE, tab by tab
Hospital name, address, contact details, logo and timezone.
Care areas, the nursing observation cadence and shift pattern, the front-desk wait threshold and the records chase bands.
Departments, sub-units and the consultation rates clinicians pick from.
Wards, sub-wards and the bed spaces staff admit into.
Your theatres, the surgical safety checklist and whether an incomplete phase blocks a case.
Invite people, change roles, set per-person permissions, and see what a seat costs.
Which modules each role sees in the sidebar, and where they land after signing in.
New-item defaults, receiving rules, expiry horizons, dispense enforcement and the reset.
The master email switch and the per-category alerts your hospital receives.
The order to build it in, if this is a new workspace rather than a change to a running one.
